From the aboriginal word for a place of flowering gums, Bellbowrie is part of the western suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland and is about 18 kilometres south-west.  This particular suburb belongs to Ryan’s federal electorate.  

This used to be part of Moggill which in fact included the Moggill cemetery.  The primary school of Moggill can be found just immediately outside of the southern border of Bellbowrie.  This place started out as a large housing estate and is presently a thriving residential suburb.  In 1973, the Lord Mayor finally named the suburb of Bellbowrie in a ceremony conducted in its shopping plaza.   

Demographics

Population: The population of the suburb of Bellbowrie was noted to reach 5,413 as accounted by the 2011 census.  Of the total population, the females were approximately 50.9% while the males were 49.1%.  Median or average age of its resident back then was about 37 years old.

Transport:

  • Bus – For every 10 minutes come the peak hours and every 15 minutes for non-peak hours, a 444 Buzz bus service comes around via Indooroopilly.  443 City Express bus is also available for servicing public commuters during peak hours.  
  • Others – Driving around the suburb of Bellbowrie is not as tedious too.  Many residents opt to driving their own private cars as it is easier to go around the place.  

Schools

Child care centres within the area of Bellbowrie is no problem.  There is the Mother Duck Child Care & Preschool down in Sugarwood Street.  Nearby areas like Anstead and Moggill also provides good venues for this type of institution.  Primary, secondary and tertiary education for most students in Bellbowrie meant having to go to Moggill State School, about 1.08 kilometres away.  

Clubs and Sports

The suburb of Bellbowrie has a small but famed organization in the area of sports and recreation clubs.  The Bellbowrie Sports and Recreation Club Inc was founded in the year 2000 and has an approximate of three full-time employees.
