Fairfield is part of the group of suburbs located south of Brisbane. It is 5 kilometres south of the Brisbane Central Business District.  Fairfield is a suburb that is primarily residential with house and unit accommodation.

The suburb is bordered by South Brisbane Cemetery to the north, Brisbane river to the west, and the Beenleigh railway line to the east.
